2 YEAR FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION OR PERMANENCE

This is a unique opportunity to shape changes at the Department of Energy and Climate Change which will ultimately benefit the nation. We recognise that an in-depth understanding of customer behaviour and how to influence it is vital if we’re to meet our consumer-related targets on climate change,  delivering secure energy and reducing energy use in the UK. Joining us in this varied and influential role, you’ll be instrumental in helping us become a more customer orientated organisation.

You’ll be a pivotal member of the Customer Insight team, a group of specialists who are committed to helping policy colleagues deliver better policies through deeper understanding of customers. As an ambassador for customer insight and social research, you’ll build the organisational capacity of the Department to generate and apply customer insight, while supporting the cultural change necessary to embed customer insight fully in policy making.

Yours will be a challenging and exciting remit. Leading the development and delivery of customer insight tools training and policy specific workshops, you’ll proactively promote the new agenda at open training sessions, assemblies and team meetings. Developing and delivering a customer closeness programme, you’ll champion the use of key tools such as insight generation, audience profiling and customer journey mapping.

You’ll also provide specific social research support to the Energy Retail Market team, which provides a strong consumer voice and expertise in policy making, and works closely with Ofgem to achieve our vision for consumers. Your responsibilities will range from developing products that inform strategic thinking, to producing tailored reports which bring relevant insights to life. You’ll also commission and manage research studies.

To join us, you’ll need specialist professional skills and knowledge across customer insight and social research. You’ll have a proven track record of generating and applying customer insight to improve outcomes. Highly skilled in research, analysis and project management, you have a strategic understanding of where best to apply analytical resources to support policy development and decision making. A driven and positive individual, you are a motivational leader with a flair for developing influential stakeholder relationships.
