ERM HONG KONG seeks an exceptional individual to join as a Senior Consultant, Water Quality Modeller in our Marine Sciences team in Hong Kong. The role will be specifically to take a lead on hydrodynamic and water quality modeling Projects in Hong Kong and throughout the Asia Pacific region.
 
THE CANDIDATE:
 
Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic and energetic; they will be persuasive communicators (both verbal and written) who are comfortable in dealing with management and operators at all levels. Ideally you have an aptitude for numerical modeling and environmental water chemistry. Your primary task will be to source, manage and deliver projects that apply modelling techniques to simulate development project impacts to rivers, lakes, reservoirs, estuaries, and coastal water bodies. You must also be able to prepare and/or review technical reports of the model applications. Candidates with other expertise of hydrodynamics, oceanography (physical, dynamical) and / or marine science are welcomed.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Candidates should have a postgraduate qualification, preferably PhD, in Environmental or Coastal Engineering, Marine Science, or Oceanography;
  • Experience of marine modelling of hydrodynamics and water quality parameters in two- and three-dimensional models (either using commercial software - e.g. DELFT 3D, MIKE, CE-QUAL-W2 - or self-written programs) is essential.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in environmental consultancy is essential;
  • GIS skills particularly in data management, spatial analysis and mapping and familiarity with ArcGIS would be an advantage;
  • Demonstrable project management awareness/skill is advantageous;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team is essential;
  • Excellent report writing skills. Fluency in both written and spoken English is a fundamental requirement.
Less experienced candidates may be considered for the role of Consultant.
