Other locations considered

APEM Limited is Europe’s largest specialist aquatic science consultancy, offering our clients an integrated approach to every aspect of the scientific study, investigation and management of both freshwater and marine habitats.  With over 25 years’ experience we operate UK wide as well as internationally, and our scientists are recognised experts in their fields.  As a company we pride ourselves on our commitment to scientific and client service excellence.  This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre, motivated and commercially-minded scientist to join our growing team.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join APEM’s freshwater team based preferably in Oxford but Edinburgh, Cardiff and Chester are all potential locations.  With project work encompassing various biotic elements (e.g. macroinvertebrates, fisheries and macrophytes), geomorphology (including riverine impact assessments and restoration projects) and water quality (particularly limnology), as well as assessment of fish passage and provision of fish pass solutions, you will be a specialist in one of these areas, as well as being able to demonstrate proven ability to adapt to work of varying technical requirements. If you are an applicant with academic, regulatory, consultancy or third sector experience you will be able to demonstrate your ability to apply your skills in a commercial consultancy context.

You will be qualified to BSc level or ideally higher for senior positions, and have evidence of relevant aquatic experience.  You will be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are therefore essential, as well as an attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines in a commercial environment.
