The Environmental Physics team within Arup’s Buildings business in London provides technical and analytical support for designs across many business sectors. We are currently seeking a Senior Consultant to lead our delivery of climate change adaptation work on building projects. Furthermore, the post holder will be responsible for enabling and guiding others in the Buildings community to deliver on the climate change adaptability and resilience (CCA&R) aspects of our Sustainable Buildings Strategy.
Role - To develop the business offerings provided by Arup in London (and Europe) in the area of CCA&R for buildings. - To support the implementation of our Sustainable Buildings Strategy, “Able to cope with future climate change”, through project input and development of guidance materials. - To promote these skills and services inside and outside the firm. - To represent the firm at external meetings, conferences and committees, to further grow the firm’s reputation in this area and so to position us at the forefront of this field.
Requirements - Proven experience of working with climate change scenarios, carrying out impacts assessments and developing adaptation strategies, ideally in relation to design in the built environment. - You will have a first degree or post-graduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or another relevant discipline. - Have achieved your professional qualification through the relevant Institution. - High level of self-motivation, enthusiasm and desire to succeed in this new and rapidly developing area. - Excellent inter-personal and persuasive communication skills to develop strong relationships with internal and external clients. - You must also thrive on dealing directly with clients and communicating the results, implications and value of complex technical work to non-experts.
