The Strategy Division of Ecofys works on analysis and strategic advice on sustainable energy and carbon
markets for corporate and government clients. The energy climate policy unit focuses on policy makers in
both the government and corporate sector working at regional, European and (inter)national level.
Ecofys sees adaptation to climate change risks as an integral part of a climate change mitigation strategy.
Ecofys foresees a role for adaptation strategies in several of her areas, e.g. we have a strong record on
CO2 risk management. Ecofys already has a track record on adaptation projects for government and
corporate clients and want to develop this further by recruiting a business developer on this topic. The
Business Developer Adaptation will be responsible for the development and management of projects on
climate resilience and climate risk assessment, adaptation policy design and implementation and the
inclusion of climate impact focus in existing Ecofys projects.
The business developer will act as a leader in this field. He or she is responsible for managing the current
projects in Ecofys on adaptation and bringing in new business, but also for increasing the knowledge in
this area within various units and (international) offices of Ecofys. He or she will be the main coordinator
on this topic and manage the knowledge base within Ecofys. He or she will develop a clear vision on the
position of Ecofys on adaptation, lead change and create a sense of urgency to meet challenges and
implement strategies.
We are looking for a new colleague who brings in excellent knowledge and experience of adaptation
policies and climate impacts and can translate this into results which serve the needs of our (corporate)
clients. In addition you bring in extensive network in this field.
Your profile
If you are enthusiastic about the job described above and you meet the following criteria, then we would
be happy to meet you!
• Between 7-10 years of experience
• Expert on climate change adaptation, preferably on the costs, financing and risk aspects. Keen on
sharing this knowledge
• Network among policymakers in EU (preferably EC), UK or Germany
• Experienced with working for the corporate sector
• Self-starter, but definitely a team-player
• Commercial and entrepreneurial attitude
• Curious on multidisciplinary projects combining adaptation with energy issues
• Excellent process manager and interested in leading projects
• Capable to communicate clearly, both verbally and written, about complex issues
• Can empower colleagues to achieve excellence
