The vacancy

As a Senior Consultant you will work in international project teams to serve our global clients. You will be primarily responsible for successful delivery of projects and proposals on the design and implementation of sustainable energy and climate strategies for our clients in the manufacturing industry, with a focus on the chemical industry. Examples include market studies for new business in a low-carbon economy, counselling on strategic choices in the energy transition, long-term scenario development and roadmaps for decarbonisation, and corporate target setting. Specifically, you will be responsible for identifying issues, structuring problems, forming hypotheses, designing and conducting analysis, synthesizing conclusions into recommendations, and helping to implement change with our clients. Throughout your assignments, you work in teams of on average 2-5 people and will guide junior team members. You will be leading discussions and presentations with senior clients, will actively nurture and relationships with them and will cooperate intensely with them.

The Sustainability Solutions team

The Sustainability Solutions service line works with a range of client types in multiple global value chains to help them navigate the complex world of the energy transition and climate change, and realize sustainable and profitable products, processes and business models. Our strength lies in our strategic understanding of energy, climate and sustainability issues. Specifically, we help our clients address energy and climate risks, take corporate climate action, capture opportunities from the bio-based economy, develop and assess effective climate policy and realize industrial decarbonization. 

Your profile

If you are enthusiastic about the job described above and you meet the following criteria, then we would be happy to meet you!

  • You have a University degree qualified with outstanding academic results in chemical engineering or science, preferably combined with one or two years consulting experience in the field of energy analysis and energy and climate policy;
  • 4-6 years’ experience professional experience, preferably in the chemical industry or the sustainability department of a multinational company, or a professional services firm working with these clients
  • Demonstrated excellence in solving problems that require logical reasoning, creative thinking, strong analytics, and the ability to untangle complex issues independently;
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, transform them into simple messages and gain the respect of clients and colleagues;
  • Self-starter with proven ability to lead teams and motivate others to deliver results within the dynamic environment of client engagement, and a desire to grow further in this respect;
  • Commercially oriented approach and business skills in identifying and exploiting opportunities in a competitive market, and a desire to grow further in this respect;
  • Proactive and convincing personality who is a team-player, who is self-reflective and eager to learn, with an edge for coaching and development of others
  • Affinity with sustainable energy and/or international climate developments;
  • You have excellent English language skills and are able to work in English; knowledge of another language (preferably Dutch or German) is beneficial;
  • You share our passion for sustainable energy.
