Job Title: Senior Campaigner – Climate Project: Mandatory fuel efficiency Department: Campaigns Line Manager: Climate Campaign Manager Location: Bangalore, India Grade: 7 Salary: Rs: 43,857/- per month or Rs. 526, 289 per annum (cost to organization) Most manufacturers are against mandatory fuel efficiency norms as well as voluntary disclosure of fuel efficiency measures. However the government (PCRA) is aiming to set in place a progressive mandatory fuel efficiency measure. Their interest is not CO2 reduction but energy security by reducing India’s dependence on oil.
Greenpeace’s role will be to challenge the car manufacturers on the basis of technological feasibility and simultaneously influence government legislation to ensure that the mandatory standards are ambitious and are implemented.
We are looking to get on board an individual who • Is passionate about environmental issues and specifically the problem of climate change. • Is an energy buff/interested in automobiles • Is a car buff who understands the car industry and the key players • Is interested in using innovative and confrontative strategies/ targets to meet our goals. • Can share Greenpeace’s values of independence, non-violence, taking direct action and bearing witness to an environmental crisis.
The Campaigner will initially work on the fuel efficiency project but may also be involved in other ongoing and proposed projects within the Climate Campaign.
Tasks
Conceptual development: Collaboration in the development of political objectives, strategies and tactics for the project and Campaign.
Implementation: Having sole responsibility to work on some projects /Collaboration in the Campaign and Project work of other parts of the Climate Campaign. Representation of the organization: Participation in national and international conferences related to the issue/ Lobby work with politicians and business
