Description

Some of our most precious marine sites and all that lives within them are now protected as a direct result of our passion and dedication to getting a better deal for our seas. Much more needs to be done before we can really say that our seas are in a better place.

We are looking for an experienced and successful Campaigner to play a key part in the continuation of the development of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) for MCS, and your contribution will be to lead the design, implementation and advocacy of our MPA campaigns related work.

Our aims are ambitions, and you will need to lead a campaign that is bold and progressive, creating a positive impact with the wide range of stakeholders who are influential in deciding the fate of our marine wildlife. You will be supported with a dedicated campaigns team, including drawing on our existing high-level expertise – you will need to be persuasive and inspiring in order to harness these resources, and also in building relationships with a range of external partners to create maximum reach for our message.

Key Skills

  • A track-record of developing and delivering high-profile and successful campaigns within the charity sector
  • Able to draw from a wide range of campaign approaches, including a creative approach to digital and social media channels and emerging channels
  • A thorough understanding of creating communications plans and working with the media
  • Exceptional communication skills – able to balance opposing viewpoints, influence and inspire, and respond appropriately to a variety of audiences.

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) has been the voice for our seas for 30 years; championing sustainable fisheries, clean seas and beaches and protection for marine wildlife.
