Overall Function

The Campaign Manager will lead the implementation of EDF’s health team’s legislative and communications strategy for safer chemicals policy. S/he will coordinate activities and strategies with the EDF legislative director, marketing and communications team, and coalition partners.

Key Responsibilities

Working with EDF’s health team and communications and legislative staff:

  • Implement a legislative advocacy campaign for strengthening the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) in conjunction with coalition partners;
  • Work to expand engagement of grass-tops and influential partners;
  • Prepare communications materials for media, policy-makers and various stakeholders to build support and understanding for our positions;
  • Broaden and strengthen EDF’s relationships with members of Congress and their staff; and\
  • Closely monitor legislative debates on Capitol Hill. 

Qualifications

The optimal candidate will have extensive experience developing and leading a legislative advocacy campaign. Some experience working in a Congressional office and/or on a marketing campaign would be preferred as well.

  • Undergraduate degree.  Graduate-level training and degrees are highly desirable.
  • At least 6-8 years of experience developing and leading a legislative advocacy campaign at a non-profit or communications firm;
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse coalition; 
  • Strong strategic insight and knowledge; Experience with an ability to communicate and collaborate effectively and build relationships with diverse partners and decision makers
  • Strong communications and written skills.

Location
This position is located in EDF’s Washington, D.C. office
