This position will perform a key role to design, integrate, implement, and maintain business services and tools that support business intelligence functions within the Lab and emerging business needs in a dynamic work environment. This position will be key in identifying and recommending business service needs/enhancements, consolidating similar system requirements based on industry best practices, and performing business Super User functions
• Provide technical administration, data analysis, configuration, and training support for the business intelligence enterprise-wide services including those provided through SharePoint and Oracle. This includes design, configuration, implementation, workflow/process modeling, report/form generation, problem resolution, data collection and analysis, ongoing configuration management of the tools and training to meet the growing business needs of NREL.

• Continue to design, develop and support a dashboard (NREL Dashboard) using SharePoint and Xcelsius in a production environment. Functionality will include, but not be limited to, the publishing of dashboards to a secure SharePoint site where the UI allows for hierarchal sections for executive top-down metrics, Alliance metrics, Office/Center metrics and associated detail to support metrics.

• Support integration activities to ensure accurate data integration between data sources where applicable.

• Meet with Lab stakeholders at the Center Director, Executive and Individual Contributor level to ensure the NREL Dashboard is meeting needs for data-driven decision making and to verify and simplify data collection and analysis methods.

• Research, analyze, recommend, design and implement a business intelligence service to allow for dynamic drill-down capability from strategic goal measurements system/process/solution

• Provide operations support and technical leadership to evolve and deliver the next-generation NREL business services including the NREL Dashboard.

• Serve as Super User for business services including the NREL Dashboard to ensure proper business maintenance, access rights, and upgrades are managed in accordance with IS standards and Lab requirements.
Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Or, relevant Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Or, relevant PhD or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Or, relevant JD or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.

Considerable knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Strong leadership, project management and problem solving skills. Ability to use various computer software programs.
The individual selected for this position must have the following areas of expertise:

• Ability to understand business processes and apply system solutions to add value to process deliverables
• Knowledge of current and emerging system solutions and business needs
• System configuration, change control, security management, and general business Super User functions
• Database development, delivery, and maintenance
• Web site design and delivery
• Familiarity with NREL Information Services (IS) standards and architectures
• Written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to train non-technical staff in applications and tools
• Ability to serve as a technical liaison to internal and external organizations
• Experience in tailoring and implementing appropriate technical solutions
• Excellent knowledge of the Laboratory’s management systems, policies, and Lab-level procedures
• An excellent understanding of the Laboratory’s operating environment, and management and staff information needs
• An excellent understanding of configuration management principles and practices
• A working knowledge of the processes associated with developing, testing, and releasing new/revised software applications and codes
• Knowledge in establishing, monitoring, and reporting system metrics
• Knowledge of web technology, document conversion, and database queries
• Solid ability to use tools such as MS Office, MS Visio, MS SharePoint, MS Access, Visual Basic for Applications, .NET
• High level skills in MOSS 2007
SQL 2005/2008 Excel Services, SSAS, SSRS, or Performance Point
MOSS Publishing Infrastructure – Pages, web parts, filters
• Skills in developing applications such as databases, websites, and using presentation tools
• Knowledge of external tools such as Kenexa, MS SharePoint, Oracle OBIEE, and various database structures
