SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Business Analyst role is designed to support the Commercial Segment in financial reporting and Operations. This is an opportunity for an analytical, dedicated self-starter to make an impact in a developing industry with a fast-growing company. Financial reporting primarily consists of ongoing coordination of pricing and cost updates for solar projects and weekly snapshots in support of monthly and quarterly profit and loss and free cash flow.

The operations portion of role this focused on supporting the process of setting up, monitoring and closing out projects relating to the development, construction and operational support of solar systems. The focus will be “project cost accounting” based and be closely linked with Operations include leading monthly reviews.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reporting weekly and monthly activity relating to the Commercial Segment including P&L and cash support
  2. Facilitate deeper understanding of projects by sending reports and scheduling meetings with project managers to analyze results and cash needs
  3. Participate in the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting process
  4. Coordinating the setup and closure of project codes in the project ledger, time charging system and reporting tool.
  5. Reviewing / uploading project budgets to project ledger
  6. Ensuring project commitments are updated in project ledger and payments are made against commitments
  7. Validating actual charges to projects by reviewing budget, commitments and work performed and applying capitalization rules
  8. Act as gatekeeper for change orders by understanding contractual obligations
  9. Light travel as needed to field offices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Comfortable with GL and project cost accounting systems
  • Analytical mindset with excellent computer skills emphasizing simple build and design techniques using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (knowledge of Access is helpful but not required)
  • BS in Business, Finance or Accounting (targeting +5 years solid experience)
  • Moderate working knowledge of US GAAP and familiarity with the capitalization versus expense rules. Understanding of income statement, balance sheet and cash flow helpful in future development of role.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and research skills with meeting facilitation experience a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS

Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.

Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of business problems.
