Advanced level engineering-analyst position, pursuing business development strategy, managing projects, and having responsibility for work delivery. Technical leader in the areas of biomass heat, power, and resource assessment. Conducts engineering-analysis activities; reviews proposals submitted under a variety of Federal Agency programs; works under direction and in support of State, Local, and Tribal Initiatives management with responsibilities for tasks/subtasks. Works to support a growing national interest in the use of bio-energy heat and power systems at all scales from residential heating to commercial heat and power, up through emerging utility-scale co-firing opportunities.
•Has responsibility for engineering-analysis activities and proposal reviews, with project lead responsibilities.

•Initiates innovative engineering-analysis and project assessment in areas supporting Department of Energy or work-for-others projects.

•Holds responsibility for technical work delivery and participates in:
- Planning and performing required engineering-analysis with advanced problem solving skills.
- Developing advanced models, programs, theories, and approaches to accelerating biomass heat and power projects.
- Interpreting biomass heat and power opportunities for policy, market, economic and/or technology assessments.- Providing input and tracking for project budgets.

•Maintains and further develops collaborations with other organizations, facilities, federal agencies, state, county, municipal, and tribal entities, as appropriate.

•Participates in proposal reviews, and provides input for proposal preparation (works
with management and senior staff to develop external funding).

•Publishes results in technical journals/conference proceedings; presents work at
conferences, symposia, and review meetings.
Relevant PhD and 9 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Or, relevant Master's Degree and 12 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 14 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Apply advanced engineering technical principles, theories and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Considered a national subject matter expert.

Demonstrates leadership in a number of areas including all team, task and/or project lead responsibilities (works independently). Demonstrated management of complex and/or impactful projects. Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of biomass feedstock inventory and fuel quality assessments.
Demonstrated experience in the areas of biomass heat, power, and resource assessment. Working familiarity with other RE technologies (solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, and efficient buildings) a plus. Experience with business development/strategic planning helpful.
