This dynamic, experienced, and innovative professional will provide technical leadership to an established and profitable AMEC E&E location delivering biological consulting services. He/she will be a role model for leadership, develop existing client relationships, assist the unit manager in hiring and maintaining profitable staffing levels, and market and develop new client relationships. He/She should be able to manage project execution, procurement, and logistics as well as implement AMEC policies and procedures in the region. Experience and interest in working with AMEC senior leadership to maintain and expand federal, state, and local government and private client relations in the region.

    Accountabilities:
  • Recruiting, motivating, and providing leadership to environmental professionals.
  • Fostering an environment of high technical competence, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Overseeing the work of staff professionals throughout the life cycle of projects.
  • Providing adequate resources to projects and maintaining appropriate staffing.
  • Managing existing client relationships/fostering new client relationships.

    Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience performing biological services in Southern California.
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, or related field.
  • Experience in ESA consultations and excellent understanding of state and federal regulatory requirements as they relate to biology.
  • Excellent knowledge of CEQA and NEPA as it relates to biological issues.
  • Proven leadership/management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial approach to taking on challenges in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic coupled with ability to lead, teach, and develop professional staff.
  • Experience in business development and client relationship management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.

    Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in biology, botany, or related field.
  • Experience with local multi-species management plans a plus.
