Description

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the conservation and restoration of Loch Lomond’s native fish and freshwater environment at the Loch Lomond Fisheries Trust.

The Loch Lomond Fisheries Trust (LLFT) is an environmental charity formed in 2001 to champion the conservation and restoration of Loch Lomond’s native fish and the freshwater environment. The projects the Trust works on span from fish to forests, taking a modern catchment-scale approach to aquatic conservation whilst embedding outreach, education and communication at the core of its activities. To achieve our conservation aims we work with numerous partners including the The Loch Lomond Angling Improvement Association, riparian landowners and the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

The LLFT is currently recruiting a full time, permanent Senior Biologist who will be responsible for the operational leadership, management and delivery of the Trust’s work. Reporting to the Trust Chair, the successful candidate will lead, develop and manage a small team of biologists to deliver work in line with the Trust’s multi-annual fishery management plan. This will include designing annual work programmes, identifying and applying for funding opportunities for restoration and conservation projects, producing formal reports and liaising with stakeholders. Working together with the administrative bookkeeper, the successful applicant will also contribute to the financial management and budgeting of projects. The successful candidate will be an experienced fish biologist with practical experience in project management. This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and can be physically demanding.
