Responsibilities include project management (including providing technical direction); designing, writing, and editing environmental reports and permit applications; research, data collection, and analysis; field surveys and reports; compliance management of construction projects; marketing and business development; and environmental training. Projects include NEPA/CEQA documents, environmental permitting such as Section 401 and 404, wetland delineations, restoration plans, Biological Assessments, HMMPs, habitat assessments, and wildlife and vegetation surveys.

Responsibilities include preparing biological sections of documents as well as managing projects. Project management duties include technical knowledge, budget and schedule management, and coordination. Prepare and direct biology/ecology studies and reports, establish scopes of work, budgets and schedules, and direct technical efforts of other biologists/ecologists. Prepare proposals and develop work prospects for the biology department. Duties may include, supervision of staff, hiring and mentoring junior staff, depending on applicant’s abilities.

Position Requirements

* B.S. and/or M.S. degree in Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Studies, or related field plus a minimum of five years experience

* Thorough knowledge of Southern California/Southwestern U.S. biological resources

* Wetland permitting and delineation experience a plus.

* Threatened and endangered species permits a plus

* Proven knowledge of U.S. environmental law and resource protection principles

* Proven responsible and project management experience in SA/CESA/CWA/CEQA/NEPA, and/or biological resource projects

* Direct client management experience

* Demonstrated experience working with regulatory agencies

* Outstanding writing, editing, and communications skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

* Excellent leadership and team-building skills
