The responsibilities for the position include:
· Interfacing with existing and potential clients
· Coordinating aquatic sciences-related business opportunities
· Assembling teams of internal staff, specialty subconsultants, and analytical laboratories
· Identifying project opportunities and preparing technical and cost proposals
· Assembling interview teams and developing and leading presentations
· Developing conceptual plans and study designs
· Preparing sampling and analysis plans and quality assurance project plans
· Managing technical and financial aspects of aquatic sciences projects
· Analyzing fields and laboratory data and preparing study reports
· Overseeing all aspects of project quality assurance and quality control
· Interfacing with regulators and preparing permit applications and submittals
· Participating in regional and national scientific organizations
· Mentoring junior staff
Requirements
10-15 years of experience
BS or MS (preferable) in Aquatic Sciences, Aquatic Toxicology, Marine Biology, Marine Ecology, or Watershed Management
The ideal candidate will have recent and ongoing experience managing aquatic sciences projects in Northern California with emphasis on San Francisco Bay and the delta, focused in the areas of water and sediment quality studies, aquatic toxicology, marine and aquatic biology investigations, and/or watershed sciences.
This position requires the candidate to have familiarity with the Clean Water Act Sections 401 and 404; the Porter-Cologne Act; the NPDES Program; Total Maximum Daily Loads; San Francisco Bay dredging requirements; the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act; the Coastal Zone Management Act; and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations and guidance.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with the RWQCB, BCDC, EPA Region 9, CDF&G, the USACE, and other local, state, and federal regulators.
