We are searching for a senior analyst to work in a team of consultants and researchers advising clients on energy and carbon related issues. We welcome candidates with strong analytical and quantitative skills, who want to work in the energy and carbon sectors. Point Carbon was acquired by Thomson Reuters in May 2010 to strengthen Thomson Reuters' offerings to the energy sector through the combination of Point Carbon's critical insight, market fundamentals and powerful analytics of key price drivers, and Thomson Reuters' leading news and pricing services. Point Carbon Thomson Reuters (www.pointcarbon.com) offers an exciting and fast growing work place, and the successful candidate will have a key role in the largest group of carbon market analysts in Europe. Point Carbon Advisory Services provides clients with customized and in-depth analysis on a wide range of carbon and energy issues. The Advisory team consists of around 25 consultants, including several of the leading experts in the global carbon market, and capitalizes on access to Point Carbon's world class databases, models and networks. Job location will be in London or Oslo.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Sale, management and execution of internal and external projects within energy and carbon markets
  • Conducting research and analysis to be presented in reports for clients active in the global energy and carbon markets
  • Development of financial, statistical and market models and frameworks to be used in consultancy projects
  • Some travelling must be expected

Qualifications

  • Minimum a Master degree or similar degree from a renowned university, for example in Economics, Technology Management, Business or Finance

Required Skills

  • Relevant professional experience within energy or carbon markets (preferably with experience in renewable energy or project finance; experience within the wider energy industry is a plus)
  • Advanced user of Excel, with strong numerical analysis and modelling skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • Analytical by nature and delivering work recognised by structure and high quality
  • Proven team player, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self motivated, proactive and driven
  • Good time management and organisational skills in order to prioritise workload and demands

Desired Skills

  • Experience with statistical tools, databases and programming is a plus
  • Other relevant languages is a plus
