Description

As statutory adviser on nature conservation to the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations, JNCC are looking for a full time Senior Air Pollution Adviser based in Peterborough. This is a fixed term appointment up to 14 October 2020.

The post will play a lead role in the provision of advice on air pollution and the natural environment.  It will involve the management of joint-work on air pollution across the UK’s country nature conservation bodies (CNCB) and the development of JNCC’s air pollution work to meet the evolving requirements of JNCC, CNCBs and Defra and Devolved Governments.  This will include building on JNCC’s relationships with the research community and other partners to co-design and deliver joint-projects. 

The position requires someone with an excellent knowledge and understanding of air pollution impacts on the natural environment, together with experience of assessing impacts of air pollution at local to national levels.  Good project management skills are required, together with experience of initiating and managing contracts.  Candidates should have a broad understanding of the roles and functions of UK Government, the devolved administrations, the regulatory bodies and the statutory nature conservation bodies.
