General responsibilities
The senior administrative assistant will contribute to the successful operation of the EDO. The senior administrative assistant will deal with multiple tasks within the competencies of the EDO. All assignments carried out within the EDO will be implemented with an emphasis on the highest standards.
Specific responsibilities
- Providing support to the executive director and to the DIR&SD in handling the international agenda of the EDO and in the planning and follow-up of documents for scheduled events and meetings.
- Drafting, designing, writing, reviewing and handling correspondence, reports, minutes, letters, spreadsheets, proposals, presentations and background and strategic documents, creating relevant graphics and formatting.
- Preparing and organising internal and external meetings.
- Assisting in the overall coordination of the implementation of decisions made at meetings.
- Facilitating communication between REC stakeholders and providing information on the progress of various activities, including day-to-day relations with donors, beneficiaries and assigned external and internal partners on national, international and on EU level.
- Providing assistance, including administrative support, to the executive director and DIR&SD and other assigned staff as and when necessary.
- Supervising and coordinating the work process of assigned EDO staff.
- Performing administration-related tasks.
Experience required
- A minimum of five years’ relevant practical experience.
- Professional experience in communicating with institutions such as international organisations, ministries and embassies.
- Familiarity with and an interest in international and in EU affairs.
- Familiarity with and an interest in environmental issues in Central and Eastern Europe.
- Competence to undertake basic research and gather information from standard
Education required
- University or college degree in a relevant field is an asset.
Language
- Excellent English-language skills.
- Good written and spoken knowledge of one regional language is an asset.
Skills required
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

- Highly developed computer skills.
- Person management skills are an asset.

This full-time position is based at the REC's head office in Szentendre, Hungary (20 km north of the Hungarian capital, Budapest). The position is for a fixed period of one year, with a possibility of extension.
