Global Green USA’s Security and Sustainability Program (internationally called “Legacy of the Cold War Program”) promotes the nonproliferation and timely, safe and environmentally sound elimination of all weapons of mass destruction (WMD). GGUSA cultivates support in the U.S. Congress for the Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) Program, and related nonproliferation programs. GG USA educates the public and media on the importance of these programs through “Track II” diplomacy, including dialogues, conferences, seminars, speeches, and press advisories, and through published reports, op-eds, and the GG USA website. GG USA keeps policymakers and the public informed of the latest nonproliferation developments through the Green Cross/Global Green Legacy Program News Forum with timely news articles in both English and Russian and conducts regular outreach to members of the G-8 Global Partnership in order to leverage resources to advance demilitarization projects. GG USA also seeks support in the U.S. Congress for making community welfare and infrastructure development at WMD sites in Russia a component of nonproliferation/threat reduction assistance.  Finally, GG USA advocates global adherence – “universality” – for international arms control, disarmament, and nonproliferation regimes.  For more information, please visit www.globalgreen.org.
