Vacancy Description

Member to provide strategic input at a non-executive level to the management of the Cotswolds and Chilterns Conservation Board. Duties include championing the Conservation Boards as an effective mechanism for promoting conservation and enhancement of the area’s natural beauty, increasing public understanding and enjoyment of its special qualities and maintaining the social and economic well-being of local communities.

Person Specification

• An understanding of England’s Protected Landscapes and in particular AONBs as significant national assets, their statutory purpose and duties
• The ability to make reasoned judgments when conflicts arise
• A good knowledge and appreciation of the strategic issues facing the AONB Conservation Board
• Proven ability to communicate effectively, and an understanding of how to be an effective committee member as well as an awareness of social inclusion and diversity issues in relation to the board.

Additional Information

Cotswolds Conservation Board: The Board would like to strengthen its skills through the appointment of a Member with knowledge of marketing, PR and communication skills including the use of social media to develop the Board’s profile and business plus experience in economic and tourism development.
Chilterns Conservation Board: Applicant should demonstrate knowledge/experience of any or all of the following: farming, forestry and land management, business management, tourism, planning and development
