Description

The post holder will provide support to the day to day running of Loch Leven NNR, particularly at weekends and during holiday periods. The reserve is a popular local visitor attraction with over 200,000 visitors a year. Many of these visitors look for face to face contact with staff and the post holder will provide a public face for SNH to help communicate key messages such as promoting responsible access and connecting people with nature.

The post holder will be expected to lead guided walks and group visits, organise environmental events and educational visits, carry out visitor surveys and monitor compliance with local access guidance. Social media is an increasingly important and valuable mechanism for communicating with the wider public and the post holder will be expected to use corporate social media platforms.

The post holder may also be required to carry out practical management tasks on the reserve such as strimming, grass cutting, litter picking, non-native invasive control and other reasonable tasks required for the management of the NNR and to participate in species surveys.

The successful candidate will competent in the following skills:

  • Working with the public
  • Knowledge of education and outdoor learning
  • Understanding of public access to Scotland’s outdoors
  • Experience and knowledge of social media platforms and ways of working
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal including IT
  • Have a working knowledge of Scotland’s environmental/nature conservation issues and the work of SNH,
  • Have a valid driving licence or other means of transport available to you.
