The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. This is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at our two zoos, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, inspiring people to take conservation action.

 

Overview:

We are looking for a driver to drive our Safari vehicle and trailer as part of our popular Lookout Lodge overnight experience. The driver is responsible for transporting our guests safely around the park in the Safari vehicle and trailer and carrying out daily safety checks. The driver is also expected to answer guest questions and assist less able guest and those in wheelchairs to access the vehicle. Your shift pattern is variable with shifts between 7 and 37.5 hours on offer. Positions will be available to start in mid-March with the contract ending at the end of October (6 months).

 
Person Specification:
  • Have good communications skills both oral and written.
  • Be able to deliver an excellent standard of customer service.
  • Prior experience working with the public.
  • Able to engage with guests e.g. when imparting information, or dealing with a first aid incident or other emergencies, ensuring they have a high quality experience at Lookout Lodge.
  • Previous experience driving passenger vehicles (is desirable).
  • Previous experience working in a visitor attraction (is desirable).

Please note: Due to the nature of the position candidates must also possess a full, clean UK driving license with categories C +E.
