Our Ecology business comprises a highly skilled team focused on providing services to a wide range of clients, particularly developers, utility companies and the renewable energy and rural industries.  As a result of our success in this area, we require seasonal Ecology Consultants for the busy spring and summer period with the energy and drive to deliver high quality work and excellent customer service.  These roles are full of variety and interaction and are potentially extendable to permanent positions for the right candidates.

The role

To deliver ecological consultancy and mitigation works in a fast moving, client focussed commercial environment and to work flexibly on a wide variety of environmental consultancy contracts.
This will involve

  • Carrying out Phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species surveys including field work.   
  • Carrying out desk studies, consultations, research, data management and analysis, and report writing.
  • Inputting into ecological sections of Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Delivering work as efficiently as possible in order to meet agreed timescales and quality standards.

Successful candidates will

  • Efficiently undertake a wide range of ecological surveys including extended Phase 1 Habitat and EcoCheck surveys.  
  • Assist senior colleagues with more specialist work, for example, provide support on protected species surveys.
  • Using your thorough knowledge of ecology and the related legislation, carry out desk studies, consultations, research, data management and analysis to meet project budgets and deadlines and client satisfaction.
  • Produce concise ecological reports that are compliant with relevant legislation and meet the needs of the client, both in terms of satisfaction and client deadlines.

Other requirements 

  • A full driving licence will be required.
  • Flexible working will be required with regard to type of work, timing and location with some night and week-end working required.
  • Experience with European Protected Species survey work.
