Seahorses for Seagrass Project Development Officerr

The National Marine Aquarium is seeking a graduate with excellent organisational, communication and planning skills to lead the development of an exciting marine conservation and engagement project.

The National Marine Aquarium, in partnership with 14 local, regional and national organisations, has developed a project proposal for submission to Heritage Lottery Fund. The project, Seahorses for Seagrass, is focussed around working with communities to protect Seahorses and vital Seagrass habitats in English Waters.

Project actions including public engagement activities; dialogue events; volunteer-led environmental monitoring and demonstrations of seagrass conservation methods, will be focused around six geographical areas - Plymouth Sound; The Yealm and Salcombe Estuaries; Torbay; Studland and The Fleet. The outcomes will be disseminated across the South West and nationally through an online education programme, a traveling aquarium exhibition and through actions to influence national conservation policy.

The project has been awarded development funding for one year to establish the partnership, carry out stakeholder consultation, develop detailed project plans and complete the fully-costed second round application and project action plan.

This role, working closely with the Project Manager, project partner representatives, National Marine Aquarium staff and external stakeholders, will be responsible for coordinating, executing and delivering the actions required of the development phase.
