Description

We are looking for an experienced and successful Advocate to play a key part in our work to influence UK businesses and the general public to adopt responsible seafood buying practices.  This role will develop exciting campaigns and communications and develop influential relationships which support our seafood buying advice and extend its reach.

In order to be fully effective in this role, you will need to be commutable to Ross-on-Wye or London, and expect to travel between both locations for meetings.

Our aims are ambitious, and require campaigns that are bold and progressive, creating a positive impact with our wide range of stakeholders, from businesses to NGOs and the general public. You will be part of a passionate team -  able to draw on our existing high-level expertise in fisheries & aquaculture, campaigning, and communications – where you will act as our spokesperson to bring new focus on our work.

Key Skills

  • A demonstrable track-record of developing and delivering high-profile and influential campaigns
  • Evidence of exceptional listening and negotiation skills – able to balance opposing viewpoints, influence and inspire, and respond appropriately to a variety of audiences
  • Proven ability to contribute to a variety of impactful communications materials which keep MCS’ work at the forefront
  • Can show resilience and team-working skills when working creatively with a diverse range of highly professional individuals in multi-skilled teams

Preferable

  • Knowledge of wild capture and farmed seafood production
  • Previous experience in the seafood, environmental NGO, commercial procurement sectors
  • Understanding of the environmental impacts of commercial seafood production and/or food supply chains
