Sea Turtle Center Education Intern

• Working in the exhibit gallery as exhibit Interpreters, assisting visitors with the various exhibit stations, providing supplemental information on the life history and behaviors of sea turtles
• Conducting daily programs for the public in the Center
• Giving presentations and answering visitor questions on the rehabilitation pavilion walkway
• Assisting with and conducting outreach programs for people of all ages, in schools and for various community groups
• Developing and executing an applicable program or project to enhance the education efforts of our Center, which will be presented to the GSTC Staff and fellow Interns
• Assisting veterinary husbandry staff with patients as needed and permissible by Education Staff

• Excellent communication and writing skills 
• Strong public speaking skills                            
• Education or experience in environmental science or marine biology
• Well-organized                           
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and with a team                         
• Basic computer skills                           
• A desire to learn                              
• Flexible daily schedule       
• Positive attitude                     

• 18+ yrs of age
• 3^rd year Undergraduate or beyond
• 1yr working in an educational setting

• Ability to work in the U.S. legally     
• Ability to drive legally in the U.S.

 Housing: On-site shared house with utilities provided at a cost of $50 per month per Intern plus $100 deposit due at time of move-in (refundable).  Houses are air-conditioned and equipped with basic furniture, kitchen and bathroom supplies. You must provide your own linens, towels, & food.  Not provided by employer but available: telephone, cable, and Internet (however there is free wireless available at various locations on JI).  Temporary JI parking pass will be supplied. 

*Travel and transportation costs will not be covered by GSTC
