EAUC-Scotland: Building for Change 2014 – 2017

EAUC-Scotland provides a reputable service for sustainability solutions for the Further and Higher Education sectors in Scotland, including the Universities and Colleges Climate Commitment for Scotland (UCCCfS) Programme. Funded by the Scottish Funding Council, the UCCCfS delivers a diverse range of environmental and sustainability awareness tools that support and complement the EAUC’s core activity, including training and networking events, advice and guidance and practical user management tools.

These incorporate specialist areas such as Education for Sustainable Development, Energy and Carbon Management, Waste Minimisation and Recycling, Travel Planning, Biodiversity, Responsible Procurement, Sustainable Construction and Corporate Social Responsibility. With the Building for Change grant for the following 3-years, the Association has been charged with project managing this and a number of further initiatives.

Objective

Provide support to the EAUC-Scotland Team and the EAUC in realising its ambitious programme in Scotland, primarily being responsible for supporting the delivering elements of our University and Colleges Climate Commitment for Scotland (UCCCfS) Programme.

Acting as the first point of contact and coordinating related activity, the post holder will support the Further and Higher Education sector with direction and guidance on environmental and sustainability issues. Providing essential drive and support to the EAUC-Scotland Team, the EAUC-Scotland Forum, Association Members, employees and Trustees.

The appointee will take on a wide range of challenging activities drawing on a range of skills and provide essential drive and support to the delivery of the University and Colleges Climate Commitment for Scotland (UCCCfS) Programme.

This role will offer the post-holder a greater understanding of environmental and sustainability needs of Universities and Colleges, and how a large scale national programme is delivered.

Through the support of development and delivery of events and Topic Support Networks, the role will offer event management opportunities and strengthen a wide range of communications skills.

Future employment potential

The role will provide a good understanding of project management and event management opening the potential for future employment opportunities. There may be an opportunity of this role being extended on confirmation of additional funding.
