Scientist Position (PostDoc) Reference: NSP/D1.3
The candidate’s research interests should focus on development of methods and concept supporting decision making in inhomogeneous environments. Decision making in the context of climate protection, adaptation and sustainable development is often superimposed by a variety of factors. Thus, algorithms have to be developed providing an integrated risk and option assessment.
Tasks: • Developing integrated concepts for decision support in various contexts (cities, developing countries, etc.) • Cooperating with the interdisciplinary PROGRESS partners • Publishing and presenting scientific results • Supervising PhD and master students • Developing project proposals Qualifications/Experiences: • PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent • Fundamental knowledge in the fields of climate impact science • Working with data of different quality • Project Management, programming skills and modeling experiences • Experience in knowledge management, decision algorithms, e.g. belief networks, Petri nets, viability analysis • Responsible and self dependent work attitude Start: 01.04.2010, Duration: 3 years All applicants should enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary team. A close cooperation with the other projects running under the North-South Theme at PIK is mandatory. The main working language is English. Salary and benefits are according to a public service position in Germany (TV-L) in E 13. All positions are open now.
