REMSA Inc. (http://www.remsainc.com/) is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and results oriented Technical Writer to fill an immediate opening for a contract assignment in Gloucester, MA.  This project is assisting with the development of a variety of documents to successfully manage activities related to the Northeast fishing industry.  We are looking to add someone who has knowledge of the fishing industry in the area as well as the regulatory programs associated with it and experience creating and editing technical documents for publication to our team.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

The successful candidate will work in support of the current interdisciplinary staff to revise and develop a set of publications to be used to govern their overall mission.  The team is revamping, updating, and developing a variety of publications in order to manage operations and train staff.  Duties in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Collaborate with senior level staff develop new and review current SOPs, quality assurance procedures, and various other documents
  • Work with staff to gain additional input to use in the revisions and development of documents
  • Write, revise, and edit policy documents, instruction manuals, and work instructions/SOPs to ensure all are accurate, relevant, and complete
  • Assist in development and compliance with quality assurance standards and practices to ensure proper maintenance of all materials once complete
  • Use principles of ISO 9001-2000 in developing all work products
  • Provide assistance with graphic design and supporting details as required

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Must be able to pass a background screening in order to receive security clearance due to the sensitive nature of this position.

Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.

Valid Driver's License with Clear Driving Record

Education: Minimum of Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) with at least two (2) semesters of English writing coursework

Experience: Minimum of Four (4) years of related experience, with at least two (2) years of technical writing experience

 

  • Ability to remain neutral on controversial issues and to see issues from a variety of viewpoints without interjecting personal beliefs/opinions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical professionals to obtain information and guidance
  • Capability to work as a member of a team in order to achieve common goals
  • Experience writing, editing technical materials including: briefings, manuals, instructions, reports, presentations, and proposals
  • Ability to perform research using a wide variety of resources including reference materials, in-house publications, the Internet, and verbal accounts
  • Experience proof reading and editing content for style and accuracy
  • Knowledge of writing styles and the ability to edit to ensure consistency throughout document/set of documents
  • Ability to properly format documents in accordance with established style rules
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with word processing programs, including MS Word
  • Proven ability to ensure compliance with all corporate quality assurance guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to lead and give direction to others
  • Attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Flexibility to take on a variety of tasks based on the workload and needs of the team
