Description

We are looking for a Scientific Officer to work on Cousin Island, our biodiversity
rich nature reserve in the Indian Ocean in the heart of the Seychelles. The
postholder will update and implement the island’s conservation strategy and
assist the chief warden in training staff in monitoring techniques for the island’s
wide range of wildlife: landbirds, seabirds, fish, reptiles, amphibians and
vegetation.

This is a rare opportunity to work in one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. Cousin Island is a beautiful
but remote place and the postholder will need to be an enthusiastic
self-starter familiar with working unsupervised on an island or similar isolated
location.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience. This is a two year post and we are
looking for a postgraduate in Ecology, Biology, Natural Sciences or Conservation
(essential: BSc Honours, desirable: MSc.) with two years work experience in island biodiversity and ecosystems
research and management.

For further information on the post download the job description from
http://www.natureseychelles.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=394&Itemid=167.

To apply email a CV and covering letter explaining what makes you suitable for the
job to: nature@seychelles.net.

Closing date for applications is 30th September 2011.
