Description

The RSPCA is looking to recruit a scientific officer to protect and improve the welfare of a wide range of companion animals.

Responsibilities to include:

  • maintaining the Society's companion animal welfare science knowledge database
  • providing scientific/technical input to specific policies, reports and campaigns
  • promoting companion animal welfare to various working groups, industry bodies and Government
  • representing the Society in the media.

 

Skills and experience include:

  • degree, or equivalent in biological or life science
  • practical experience of companion animal husbandry and behaviour; specialist knowledge of the needs of dogs and small mammals would be an advantage
  • excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate scientific information to a range of audience
  • competent user of Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

 

Some travel in the UK and abroad including overnight stays is required in this role.
