Scientific Fisheries Observers

£ £22,304 p.a. + sea going allowance at £39.53 per day spent at sea

Interested in an opportunity to contribute to sustainable Fisheries Management in the South-West Atlantic? The Fisheries Department has two vacancies for Scientific Fisheries Observers for one year in the first instance. Observers are required to spend periods of up to five weeks at a time at sea to collect biological and other data on ships fishing primarily in Falkland Island waters.  

Applicants should:

• Hold at least a BSc in a Zoological or Biological subject

• Be computer literate

• Be enthusiastic, and have the ability to work alone

This position offers:

• Eligibility for a 15% gratuity payable on successful completion of the contract

• Flights to and from the Islands at the start and end of the contract

• 50 days holiday entitlement

• Shared accommodation to rent when on land
