The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
Assist in the recruitment, orientation, training, management, and guidance of volunteers. (5%)
Monitor preserves for appropriate use and do minor trail maintenance. (15%)
Perform office duties. (5%)
Lead nature walks and tours as assigned to educate the public about local natural history, conservation heritage, and The Nature Conservancy's mission on Block Island. (15%)
Lead weekly camp activities focused on learning about Block Island’s natural history. (5%)
Assist with biological and legal monitoring and other scientific activities on Nature Conservancy preserves. (5%)
Clean and maintain Nature Conservancy facilities. (5%)
Assisting with the Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future work group (25%)
Invasive plant species removal on two TNC properties (15%)
Other duties as assigned. (5%)
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in natural resources, environmental studies or equivalent combination of education and 6 months of experience.
Experience managing and prioritizing tasks from multiple sources.
Experience performing administrative duties emphasizing detail-oriented and numerical tasks.
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite software and Web browsers.
Experience working and communicating with a diverse group of people
