**IMMEDIATE START REQUIRED** Barefoot Conservation is a new and exciting, not-for-profit organisation that takes a fresh look at marine conservation and community awareness. All of the Barefoot staff share the same passion for making a real difference at a grass root level on all our projects. Our focus is grass roots conservation and community action. Our aim is to engage, educate and empower the local community to make sustainable conservation a way of life, not just a project. We are currently looking for 2 Indonesian Science Officers for our Raja Ampat, West Papua/Indonesia marine conservation project, both with an immediate to 2 weeks starting time . This is a great opportunity to join an enthusiastic, energic team and make a real difference in the worlds most bio-diverse marine region, and one of the truly last diving frontiers. PRINCIPAL FUNCTION Under the guidance of the Project Scientist help co-ordinating the Science Training Programme for volunteers
-Assist the Project Scientist with the development and implementation of the Science Training Programme. -Organise and supervise the daily science survey programme. -Help the Project Scientist with bi-monthly project reports and data analysis. -Supervision and training of volunteers/host country scholars during STP. -Assist with project logisitics and administration when needed. -Help teach the Manta Ray Research Programme. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES -Assist the Project Scientist in implementing the Science Training Programme (STP) covering each survey -Supervise the volunteers during the daily research/habitat survey program, including undertaking all dive -Under the guidance of the Project Scientist, train & supervise the new volunteers during the STP, including -Assist the Project Scientist in data analysis, supervise the volunteers in the collection and inputting of the -Assist with the Environmental Education community project, hold presentations for the local community, create/organise fun games for the children to educate them about the importance of protecting the environment. TERMS & CONDITIONS Contract Duration: 6 month contract, with possibility of extension at end of contract term. Bonus: Up to £1000 per year end of contract bonus, depending on level of experience and Accommodation/Food: FREE basic accommodation provide at Raja Ampat project site (own room provided). Travel/Visa: Travel to/from the expedition site must be paid for by the candidate.
