Science Communications ManagerIntroductionMSC operates a global fisheries certification and ecolabelling programme. We celebrate, promote and add value to sustainable fisheries and through the leadership of our partners, create market incentives to encourage other fisheries to improve the way they fish the oceans. Over 300 fisheries around the world, landing 12 % of the annual global harvest, are now engaged at some stage of the MSC’s independent assessment process. MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries. The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) works to safeguard the world’s seafood supply by promoting the best environmental choice in seafood to the consumer through the use of its logo. The organisation is recognised internationally as a ground breaking and credible solution to the serious environmental problem of overfishing. Information on the roleWe are committed to understanding the environmental and organisational impacts of our program and evaluating how effectively we are delivering our mission. Our Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) program considers rigorous, impartial and consistent evidence as the scientific foundation to evaluate progress in these areas. Coupled with transparency, this approach is a cornerstone of MSC’s commitment to accountability and learning. We have a exciting opportunity to join the Research and Credibility team in our London Head office. This key position is to maintain the robustness and rigour of the M&E program and raise the scientific profile of the Organization: Reporting to the Senior Research and Credibility Manager, the Science Communications Manager has the exciting and challenging role of broadening the understanding of the MSC science to new and existing stakeholders across the globe, to regional internal communications teams and external stakeholders engaged with the MSC program, including conservation groups, media, industry clients and government agencies. A major component of the role will be communicating development, implementation and evaluation of projects, policies, methodologies, guidelines and directives related to the Fisheries and Chain of Custody Standards.
