The San Pedro River Preserve Steward supports preserve operations, maintenance, and management. This position is a temporary (six months) but full-time position based in Dudleyville, Arizona. This job is supervised by the Salt River Project Preserves Manager, although day to day supervision may be delegated to site managers. The job includes the following functions and other duties as logical and necessary:

  • Maintains preserve areas as wildlife habitat.
  • Maintains preserve fences, buildings, roads, and vehicles.
  • Maintains tools and equipment.
  • Monitors water, plants, animals, and restoration projects.
  • Patrols and keeps properties secure.
  • Assists with livestock management.
  • Opens and closes preserve to the visiting public.
  • Represents TNC with rural neighbors and community members.
  • Works on multiple TNC and partner properties.
