Summary

SunPower’s UPP International Group is seeking a top-notch Sales Manager to drive sales into power plant EPCs, Independent Power Producers, System Integrators and Utilities, to assist in overall sales efforts in Japan. The position reports to the Director of Business Development, Japan.

This role would suit a self-motivated, results-oriented individual who is comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment, capable of driving and coordinating internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing and implementing an effective penetration and expansion sales strategies and able to convince external and internal stakeholders of the validity of the approach.

To succeed in this role the candidate will possess a combination of big-picture vision with leadership abilities and creativity with detail-oriented execution skills and business savvy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Build SunPower’s sales structure and strategy for Power Plant segment in the Japanese PV market and manage relationship and revenue producing process, based on in-depth analysis of Japanese PV policy, market economics, competitive product landscape, and service delivery.
• Implement sales strategy, including creating and maintaining sales and market agreements, developing ASPs, monitoring sales performance, and achieve quarterly and yearly sales quotas.
• Drive implementation of robust sales forecasting throughout customer base.
• Work closely with the Product Management & Marketing Departments with Business Development Director to manage product and service launch process into the market including launch timeline, development roadmaps, product and service volume forecasts, product and service penetration strategy and metrics.
• Manage sales issues, and leverage SunPower’s advantages of pre-selling service to increase sales to the end customer.
• Participate in sales planning process including finance as part of long term planning, interfacing with sales operation on near term tactical issues.
• Manage expense budgets.
• Propose and negotiate alliances with high potential companies/groups that strengthen SunPower sales revenue. 
• Assist Business Development Director in driving and closing all revenue opportunities and high-value partnerships.

Education and Experience Requirements

• BA in relevant object required; MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years of post-graduate experience, in sales function in a similar company or Business Development or Marketing leadership experience in a similar industry. 
• Minimum of 3 years of negotiation and deal making experience.
• PV/energy industry experience a plus but not required.

• Ability to drive collaboration across function and level within the business, including effectively driving action from colleagues in higher level positions.
• Strong technical background, experience in high-tech marketing or product management is an advantage.
• Fluent in Japanese. Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Fluency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Location

• The position is based in Tokyo, Japan.
• Up to 50% domestic / international travel
• Candidates must be legally entitled to work and reside in Japan.
