Comverge, Inc., a leading provider of clean energy solutions that enable electric utilities to manage capacity during periods of peak energy demand, delivered more than 1,250 megawatts (MW) of reduced electricity demand to commercial + industrial (C+I) and residential customers along the Eastern seaboard during the summer of 2011. These efforts were made necessary by a record breaking heat wave that, at its peak, put approximately 132 million people under a heat alert, and threatened grid reliability in 15 eastern states. Role Summary/Purpose:
The individual in this position is responsible for selling Demand Response (“DR”) and Energy Management (“EM”) related services to targeted Commercial and Industrial (“C&I”) prospects.  The Sales Executive will use a consultative sales approach to develop long-term customer relationships to maximize revenues and profits.

Essential Responsibilities: Other Duties as Assigned  
 
In this position you will develop and close new business opportunities in the region. This requires developing and implementing an overall plan to grow Comverge’s customer base through the development of business relationships with direct C&I prospects and targeted alliance relationships. You will utilize your existing network and relationships, and build new relationships to secure contracts with facility owners and operators and marketing partners to generate annual profitable revenue targets. Additional responsibilities include marketing and executing contracts with electric consumers who are capable of modifying their operations that serve Comverge’s programs. You will assist in negotiating contracts for energy management related services with prospective customers. You will establish a clear and effective transition plan for new customers to become fully integrated into Comverge’s operations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering, or related field with a consistent and proven track record of successfully closing business.
  • Must possess an established network of business related contacts Analytical and problem solving skills; specifically, the ability to apply technical knowledge to solve complex customer business problems. Working knowledge of financial analysis activities.
  • Leadership skills and experience.
  • For this position, Comverge is seeking aggressive, self-confident, self-motivated individuals with a strong customer focus and the ability to relate well to people at all organizational levels internally and externally.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility, good listening skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills are required along with the ability to effectively position Comverge products and value propositions within the context of the customer’s business.

 

Qualifications Desired:
The successful candidate will also possess the following: Minimum of 5 - 6 years of energy, commodities, energy services, Demand Response or Energy Management related work experience, at least 3 of which involve selling into Channels and direct business-to-business sales.
