About the Job

This role will be based out of Sydney, Australia.

You will have responsibility for accelerating Opower’s growth in the Australian market. You will be well compensated for delivering against and exceeding 2014-2015 sales goals. You will help define the sales strategy for Opower’s existing business in Australia and execute this strategy to secure new business and grow existing business in the Australian market.

You will report to the Managing Director of the Asia-Pacific Region, who is based in Singapore.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a well-structured set of target accounts to be pursued in the Australian market
  • Engage targeted utilities across Australia to influence their long-term vision and needs around energy efficiency, Smart Meters, and customer engagement. Cultivate trusted relationships across IT, Marketing and Customer Service functions within targeted utilities
  • Partner with our Regulatory Affairs team, to understand and influence the relevant energy-efficiency and Smart Grid regulations at both the Commonwealth and State level
  • Deliver against an annual sales quota. Develop, revise and execute account plans on a regular basis. Ensure timely closure of deals through careful planning and effective communication.
  • Over time, assume account responsibility for Opower’s existing clients, and own the account plan to renew and expand business in the future. You will partner closely with the delivery team to ensure success.
  • Approximately 70% travel required to the Australia and New Zealand region

About You

  • You are a sales professional with strong experience in personally priming new markets, selling and closing enterprise-level transactions, and successfully leveraging corporate capabilities from across the globe.
  • You have extensive experience in Australia (and ideally New Zealand), and have worked in the energy and/or software sector in Australia
  • You possess the requisite intellectual curiosity, and technical literacy to evangelize and explain new technology.
  • You enjoy spending time with customers, and have the ability to tailor your communication style to a diverse set of stakeholders. You would rather be with clients than in the office.
  • You have both good judgment and strong planning skills. You anticipate and solve possible customer (as well as technical) issues in advance.
