Working in the Reservations Department at the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, the Guest Services Associate's primary responsibility is to fulfill the needs of the AMC's guests and potential visitors to our programs and destinations in a courteous and professional manner.   This includes all aspects of processing and communicating phone, on-line, and in-person reservations for AMC huts, lodges, camps, programs, hiker shuttle and memberships; providing accurate and comprehensive trip and safety advice; performing Joe Dodge Lodge check-in duties; and assuring that our clients receive outstanding customer service.  The Associate reports to the Sales and Guest Services Supervisor.  This is a full time, year round, non exempt hourly position with excellent benefits. (There are also seasonal Sales & Guest Services Associates positions available.)

Responsibilities
  • Process and communicate phone, on-line, and in-person reservations for AMC huts, lodges, camps, programs, hiker shuttle and memberships
  • Provide accurate and comprehensive trip and safety advice
  • Perform check in duties at Joe Dodge Lodge
  • Assure that our clients receive outstanding customer service
  • Present AMC mission, destinations, and programs in a proactive manner
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Employment Qualifications
  • Customer service and/or sales experience is required.
  • Computer literacy, proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and effective typing skills are required. 
  • Excellent communications skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task required.
  • Commitment to being a team player within a detail-oriented, fast-paced environment is required. 
  • Scheduling flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays is required.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Knowledge of White Mountain National Forest area is required.
  • Experience in an office environment is recommended.
  • Physical Abilities required: Work is performed in a standard office setting, using standard office equipment. Must be able to stand, sit, climb stairs, and lift up to 25 pounds from floor to waist height.
  • The Appalachian Mountain Club has zero tolerance for child abuse or placing children in danger. The AMC requires all employees who work in a program or facility which serves children, disabled persons, or the elderly to have a criminal record check performed on their name in their state of primary residence.

Seasonal Sales and Guest Services Associates are paid a competitive hourly wage, depending on experience.  Seasonal benefits include AMC membership, use of AMC destinations, and employee discounts.  Room and Board may be provided for $45 per week.
