Description

NatureScot, Scotland’s nature agency, is recruiting two rural surveyor posts; one in the north of Scotland and one in central Scotland. These are important roles within an evolving area of work, offering the opportunity to influence rural land management to deliver more for nature and climate.

NatureScot recognises the contribution that a rural surveyor can provide to our teams, in considering the practical, legal, contractual and financial implications of rural land management. You will provide professional expertise to the Area teams, to contribute to the management of some of the most special places in these areas. You will build relationships with land managers, and explore and develop cost effective approaches to managing land to maintain and enhance biodiversity and mitigate climate change. One post is to work with teams in Forth Area (Fife, Stirling, Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and the Lothians); and the other temporary post is to work in the north of Scotland, including Moray and Grampian, north of Inverness, and the Northern Isles, together with working with farmers to mitigate beaver impacts in Tayside.

NatureScot aims to recruit, retain and motivate our employees and ensure a good work-life balance, with a number of non-financial rewards, including flexible working hours and attractive terms and conditions for holiday leave (41.5 days pro-rata), pension and cycle to work scheme amongst others. The starting salary is £33,370.

You would be part of a wider supportive NatureScot rural surveyor network, sharing advice and experience, and opportunities for development.

Closing date: 12 noon on Monday 16 May 2022.
