Rural and Cultural Heritage Inventory and Recovery at the Faia Brava Reserve 18 to 30 August

The goal of this work camp is to support the inventory of rural structures and constructions, as well as local stories and knowledge associated to the constructed heritage, at the Faia Brava Reserve, property of ATN at the Côa Valley SPA. This work is part of ATN’s Ecotourism Programme, which started in 2008. The volunteers will receive theoretical and practical information on rural architecture inventory methodologies and inquiries to the local population, and will support ATN with inventory fieldwork and reconstruction work (recovery of rural houses, sheds and stonewalls, building traditional roofs), with the help of specialists. All the data and knowledge collected will be combined in a report, which will help ATN to access the state of the heritage at the reserve and the reconstruction needs, and also to prepare heritage focused tourism and education activities (new theme nature trails, traditional agriculture activities, horse and bike rides, etc.) to be implemented at the Faia Brava Reserve.

Accomodation/food (kind of lodgement, number of meals, other services) 

 Rented house at the closest village, where 3 daily meals will be offered by ATN and prepared by the participants (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The house is flly equipped with kitchen, bathroom and bunk bed rooms. The village has a small supermarket and café. ATN offers transport to the nearest town for groceries, pharmacy, etc.
