Background:

Stanwick Lakes is a unique 750acre countryside attraction and nature reserve in the heart of Northamptonshires beautiful Nene Valley, and is widely considered to be one of the regions most imaginative outdoor activity destinations. It offers the best of both worlds: extensive play areas to keep adventurous families entertained for hours, and for nature lovers, walkers and cyclists, acres of wide open spaces and paths, where blue skies are reflected in tranquil waters. Stanwick Lakes is managed as a social enterprise by environmental charity, Rockingham Forest Trust (RFT), in partnership with East Northamptonshire Council. Rockingham Forest Trust is an environmental charity and rural development trust. We have been working to support the area’s rural way of life for over 15 years, through a variety of conservation and heritage projects undertaken with local communities. An increasingly important part of our work involves bringing people closer to the environment, for example at sites like Stanwick Lakes and Twywell Hills and Dales, helping those at disadvantage through contact with the natural world, and creating greenspaces for communities to enjoy.

Objective:

To work closely with the Trust’s director and the marketing manager to ensure the smooth administration of all marketing and support work at Stanwick Lakes. You will strive to increase awareness of the full range of opportunities available for all stakeholders and the local community. You will deliver exceptional marketing communications, stakeholder relations and press relations. Please note this is a part-time 18hr per week role with the potential of additional hours.

Benefits To Graduate

This role represents a fantastic opportunity to learn about every aspect of today’s challenges facing the charity sector and the innovative approaches that we are taking to develop a sustainable business model. You will learn how Stanwick Lakes is managed as a social enterprise by Rockingham Forest Trust, in partnership with East Northamptonshire Council. You will gain an insight into funding applications, volunteer management, conservation, heritage skills and environmental education. Accompanying this is the on-going training and support offered through CHANGE AGENTS UK to successful candidates including training workshops such as project management and communicating sustainability. There may also be an opportunity to top up your working hours in the café and shopping facilities at the Lakes or you may wish to get involved in some of our voluntary opportunities in your spare time.

Employment Potential and Options Post Project Work

This role can develop as far as the successful candidate drives it. Depending on the success you create there may be an opportunity for increased hours and even permanent employment.
