Educator Responsibilities Teach non-residential, outdoor environmental education programs for local elementary and middle school groups at ACES' Rock Bottom Ranch Wildlife Preserve. Develop and document lessons and create teaching materials for outdoor and classroom environmental education programs.Teach weekly environmental education lessons in the mid- and down-valley schools. Conduct various summer camps and classes for children including Farm & Wilderness camp, Exploring Around, and Continuing Ranchers.
Ranch Hand Responsibilities Opportunity to learn and gain experience in organic gardening and sustainable agriculture practices. Assist in the care & maintenance of a small farm, including chickens, goats, and gardens. Conduct morning and evening chores consisting of daily care for the animals. Assist with Field Study Center and 113-acre wildlife preserve maintenance and management.
Qualifications Educational background in the natural sciences, environmental education, sustainable agriculture, or related field; interested and enthusiastic about environmental education & farming; self-motivated and a sincere interest in the environment; experience working in a farm setting with children and the public. First aid and CPR certification.
