Deloitte & Touche LLP’s (“Deloitte & Touche’s”) Regulatory & Capital Markets Consulting practice offers a comprehensive suite of risk and compliance consulting services, delivered by professionals with deep industry and technical skills. This practice offers a diverse portfolio of industry-specific solutions in response to our clients’ ever-changing regulatory, technology, operations and compliance needs.
The practice is comprised of more than 700 practitioners nationwide, who provide services in risk strategy and regulatory compliance, operations and technology and complex accounting and valuation across industries including financial services, energy and resources, health sciences, technology, media and telecommunications. Within each of these industries we are further segmented with specialized expertise. Our practice also houses subject-matter specialists for regulatory issues associated with Unclaimed Property and Government Contracts.
We help our clients develop customized risk-based solutions to meet their increasingly complex needs. Our professionals provide consulting support for strategy development, risk assessment, operational improvement, navigation of regulatory impact and change, system selection, IT implementation/integration and complex accounting.
Risk Strategy & Regulatory.  This service offering provides a wide array of services to clients who seek to improve methods for identifying, measuring, controlling and monitoring compliance related risks on an integrated basis. Risk Strategy & Regulatory assists clients in creating, developing, and implementing strategic risk management programs. This includes assisting clients to implement and manage their capabilities to comply with new regulations within an economic and regulatory capital framework, integrate regulatory requirements into their business processes and technology, as well as helping others to enhance their credit strategies and credit models.
Our regulatory professionals include former regulators (e.g., SEC, NASD, Federal Reserve, OCC, FCC, FDA, CMS, DoD), staff members of several state public utility commissions, state administrators, directors of audit, industry compliance professionals, clinicians, auditors and control specialists.
Generally, our services fall into three main areas:
  • Preventive Services — compliance and control assessments, regulatory risk management, policies and procedures, training, mock regulatory exams, reporting and licensing, compliance auditing and monitoring
  • Enforcement Services regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions, assisting clients address prior violations under regulatory orders, investigations, and government audits
  • Operational Services — implementation of Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) programs, identifying enterprise-wide risks, including market risk, credit risk, and operational risk, responding to new or changing regulations, business process, integration/strategic advice, capability assessments, utility rate case and litigation support services.
Manger/Senior Manager – Climate Change
We are seeking an experienced manger or senior manager to build on the existing climate change capabilities within our Capital Markets (Energy) practice.  This candidate will have at least 3-4 years experience working in the climate change area with a major emitting company (ideally in the energy sector), with an emissions broker, or in the climate change practice of an environmental consulting or professional services firm.

The ideal candidate should possess the following experience.  Candidates with a subset of these elements will be considered.

  • Understanding of global and US climate change policy and regulation
  • Implementation of GHG protocol including establishment of footprint and development of inventory
  • GHG reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Development of climate change strategy for a company with significant GHG emissions
  • Support for trading of carbon allowances (EU ETS or CCX), (e.g. strategy and risk policy development)
  • Procurement and structuring of offset credit (CDM/JI) contracts

Skills/Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Economics or Business
  • Strong background and understanding of climate change, preferably in the energy sector
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capability
  • Strong work ethic with high desire to succeed
  • Team-oriented
  • Willing to travel
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide engagement or task management and select appropriate methodologies
  • Play substantive/lead role in client relationship and communication
  • Play substantive/lead role in attaining quality internal and external communication deliverables including technical content of reports, proposals, etc.
  • Demonstrate high level of understanding of client's business
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge industry or functional specialty
  • Deliver services that meet Deloitte & Touche’s engagement leader specifications
  •  Participate in professional & civic organizations
  • Produce material for internal publications
  • Participate in proposal development efforts
  • Evaluate, counsel, mentor, and provide feedback on performance of others
  • Assist in retention of professionals
