The Government of Seychelles, with the assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and funding from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), is undertaking a project for “Mainstreaming Biodiversity Management into Production Sector Activities”. The Programme Coordination Unit for GOS/UNDP/GEF projects in Seychelles is seeking consultants / contractors to undertake the following short-term assignment:

Review of existing national and international fisheries co-management legislation, practices and models. This consultancy is part of the artisanal fisheries component of the Project, and is intended to identify the most relevant and effective artisanal fisheries co-management models for Seychelles. The International Consultant will work in partnership with a National Consultant.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Review of existing national and international fisheries co-management legislation, practices and models. This consultancy is part of the artisanal fisheries component of the Project, and is intended to identify the most relevant and effective artisanal fisheries co-management models for Seychelles. The International Consultant will work in partnership with a National Consultant.

 

Competencies

  • Experience in artisanal fisheries co-management regulations, policies and practices;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Experience with participatory, consultative processes with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of international artisanal fisheries co-management knowledge base, policy framework, etc.
  • Excellent reporting skills;

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Advanced University Degree in marine / fisheries / social sciences;
  • Fluent written and oral communication in English. Knowledge of Creole an advantage
