POSITION SUMMARY The Nature Conservancy is leading multiple forest restoration projects throughout the Eastern New York region. The Restoration Technician will work with staff, partners and volunteers to collect monitoring data on the success of restoration efforts and assist with restoration activities and plantings. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Restoration Technician will assist and at times lead forest monitoring data collection and entry on restoration projects in the Catskill Mountains and Lower Hudson Valley. S/he may also help to carry out restoration plantings, remove of invasive plant species and interact with the public regarding the goals of the projects. S/he will also conduct literature reviews on a range of forest restoration topics as needed. This is a great opportunity to learn about forest restoration and work with various partner organizations. AUTO SAFETY POLICY This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.
