The Student Conservation Association (SCA), a national force of conservation volunteers, is seeking experienced, quality oriented outdoor leaders to supervise a team of six interns responsible for completing multiple restoration projects in the Bureau of Land Management’s Ridgecrest Field Office. Work projects may include, but are not limited to: OHV-related restoration, invasive species removal, fence construction/maintenance, and restoration effectiveness monitoring. The work is performed on critical habitat areas of the desert tortoise, wilderness study areas, and wilderness areas to mitigate illegal OHV (Off Highway Vehicle) use. Work projects will require proficiency with a variety of hand tools and will be conducted in an outdoor setting with highly variable weather conditions. The crews camp primitively while in the field for up to 10 days at a time, and are housed in town for days off. Program duration is 9 months, field staff are employed for 12 months. Project leaders will be responsible for their own housing, living with the crew is not permitted. There are 4 available positions based out of Ridgecrest, CA. Primary Responsibilities:Crew Manager

Program Dates: Position begins July 11st. Corps members arrive Sept. 13th, 2011. Members depart on June 12th, 2012. . This is a 12 month position with potential for continuous employment.
