Residential Product Manager

PECI is transforming itself and the Residential practice. Our Residential Business Development & Product Management team is tasked with growing our practice revenue by securing new business and improving existing programs. The Product Manager is a critical leadership role and actively partners within and across our practices to develop industry leading products and solutions to enable Residential business growth with both existing clients & new prospects.  Ultimately, this role is responsible for researching industry “best practices”, understanding key pain points and developing the best program design, products and solutions for the Residential market.  They will partner with the Business Development & the Program Delivery Team to identify state, regional and client-specific market barriers and opportunities, design pilots and program delivery models, lead proposals development, budget complex projects/programs, evaluate potential partnerships to deliver competitive solutions to the market.   

The Product Manager will be based in the Portland, OR office and will report to the Residential Technical Business Development Consultant.  It is critical that the Product Manager is comfortable operating in a dynamic, complex environment with tight deadlines.  The Product Manager should be well versed in Residential energy efficiency program design and delivery, knowledgeable with regards to industry data sources and how to efficiently research and evaluate market data to develop winning strategies, understands the importance of design, evaluation & validation and, is highly collaborative in their approach to solving complex problems. The successful candidate is a self-directed critical thinker, places high value on collaboration, is comfortable with ambiguity, understands the Residential energy efficiency business, is a creative problem solver who thrives in an evolving environment.
 
Core Responsibilities

Successfully contribute to a small, but highly capable Residential business development team responsible for: 
•    Researching Residential products, services and delivery models, author recommendations for improvement
•    Lead proposal development, including collaborating with cross-functional groups and partners 
•    Budget complex multi-year programs and services
•    Evaluate and maintain relationships with external partners and clients
•    Leads new program and proposal reviews with senior management, including comprehensive implementation handoff responsibilities
•    Effective, ongoing coordination with business development, client management and core functions (engineering, operations and business intelligence)
•    Collaborates with business intelligence to deliver client-related secondary research
•    Lead pursuit of known opportunities
•    Alignment on core strategies to achieve savings targets
•    Sales material creation/refinements
•    Collaborates with operations on process improvements and documentation
•    Collaborates with business intelligence and field outreach to recommend channel partnership approaches (retailer, manufacturer, contractor, etc.)

Skill Requirements

•    6-9 years of experience with a B.A./B.S. degree or  4-7 years of experience with MBA; must have energy industry experience with a minimum of 3-5 years of product, project or program management experience; consulting experience strongly desired
•    A combination of experience in product management, client business development, program design and implementation ,  and proposal creation
•    Experience solving complex product and program design issues, including the development of recommendations to senior management
•    Knowledge of utility procurement processes and regional energy efficiency priorities
•    Cross-functional team leadership skills; effective facilitation on all launch activities with program staff and partners 
•    Knowledge of product, client and market research methodologies
•    Ability to develop effective executive-level communications and presentation material and comfortable in delivering recommendations to senior management
•    Proactively sets expectations and helps to manage trade-offs with regards to short timelines and constrained requirements
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
•    Self-motivated, self-reliant driver with the ability to achieve broadly communicated objectives under a minimal amount of supervision
•    Strong people influencing and management and skills
•    Strong computer skills, including Sales Force, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a must; Project Portfolio Management tools, Visio, and MS Project experience desired
•    Strong product development process management experience
